- "Wreak havoc with their wild teeth and claws while protecting their owners with their own bodies."
- —Beast description, Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold: The Fafnir Knight
The Beast (ペット Pet in the Japanese version) is a loyal comrade whose thick hide and sharp fangs and claws allow them to tear their enemies to shreds while keeping their masters safe. Although they can't wear traditional armor, their thick hides provide more than enough defense to ward almost any blow. Should their masters be in danger, they can act as a shield in their stead, taking all the damage their masters would have sustained. With utmost savagery, they can lash out lethal blows against their foes, crushing them with their sheer strength. Should their masters sustain injuries, their saliva can heal their wounds, restoring them to their best conditions.
Profile[]
Ferocious creatures of the wild, trained to loyally serve their masters in combat. While they possess lethal combat capabilities, their defensive capabilities make them a true threat to anything that dares to threaten their masters. With a keen nose and natural instinct, they make for excellent hunters and gatherers, making them essential for anyone gathering the bounty offered by the labyrinth.
- Strengths: Powerful physical attacks and powerful defenses, capable of healing party-mates.
- Weaknesses: Loyalty skill is uncontrollable and bugged - when defending a party member, the damage calculation uses the defended member's defense instead of the Beast's own, along with ignoring defensive buffs or effects.
- Force skill - Salivall: The loyal beast licks the wounds of the entire party, fully restoring their HP and status.

Profile[]
The Beasts have received a much-needed overhaul in this game. Previously, their Loyalty was automatic and further investment (which was needed for their better skills) would raise the chance of them taking blows for the party, whether needed or not. Now, Loyalty Mastery raises the chance of a Beast taking half damage, and any skill that would let the Beast tank for the party is player-controlled on top of providing an additional defense boost, allowing the Beast to work as a defensive unit slightly different from the Protector.
Beasts are also one of the two classes who cannot alter class, and other classes cannot switch to Beasts. The other class with this behaviour is the Fafnir.
- Strengths: Good mix of attack and defense, capable of healing teammates. Massive HP reserves.
- Weaknesses: Gimmicky attack skills. Prone to dying a lot if frequently commanded to shield allies.
- Force Boost - Desperation: Triples user's HP for 3 turns.
- Force Break - True Endurance: Shields all allies from attacks and endures this turn. At the end of the turn, deal melee bash damage to all enemies.

Skills[]
Grimoire Stones[]
Skills to generate and pass:
- Hit-Taker: Best given to a Protector whose Shield Mastery and Parry skills can block some if not all of the physical hits.
- Lick Wounds: Heals, removes binds, and does not require equipment.
- Natural Instinct: All-purpose item-farming skill for earning money.
Skills best used on a Beast:
- Bloodlust (Highlander): Defensive Beasts will be using Hit-Taker often to defend the party. The number of hits will raise the chance it will retaliate.
- Shield Mastery, Parry (Protector): Equipping these will make the Beast function like a substitute Protector.
- Provoke (Protector): Offers great synergy with Endurance.
- Healing Rhythm (Troubadour): Provoke and Protection Vow work as buffs, giving the Beast passive regeneration after taking a lot of hits.
- Elem DEF Up: The Beast's fantastic Vitality helps them weather physical damage, but their lower Technique makes them more vulnerable to elemental damage.
