Dragoon all

The Dragoon (Japanese name) is one of the ten currently known classes in Etrian Odyssey V. An Earthlain class, they wield both shield and heavy artillery to shell foes from afar and protect their allies. In addition, they can construct defensive structures called bunkers to draw enemy attacks. They draw parallels to the previous games' Protector, Hoplite, and Fortress.

Shield BearerEdit

The Shield Bearer specializes in guarding. They gain better defensive abilities and a monstrous bonus to HP, Vitality and Wisdom.

  • Strengths: By far the tankiest class available in the game. Guard skills provide utility to the party.
  • Weaknesses: Poor damage output. Costly Guard skills are confounded by their low TP bonus.

Cannon BearerEdit

The Cannon Bearer specializes in cannon fire, with the ability to attack at different points in the turn or even inflict ailments through their shots, and receive a better Strength, Agility and Luck bonus.

  • Strengths: Good offensive support to the party on turns when defense isn't needed.
  • Weaknesses: Requires good timing of offensive and defensive skills to master - abandoning a guard skill for a delayed attack can result in an untimely wipeout.

Dragon Roar Raises one ally's draw rate and DEF for 3 turns. Buff None Lv5 and 10 increase duration and skill speed.
Decoy Bunker Sets a bunker that can draw in attacks. Support None Lv5 and 10 increase aggro draw and damage resistance.
Defense Form Raises the party's physical DEF for 3 turns. Available only if a Bunker or Pillbox is deployed. Buff Decoy Bunker Lv2 Lv5 and 10 increase duration.

Counter Guard Reduces cut/stab/bash damage done to a row this turn, and retaliates with a ranged bash attack for each attack guarded against. Lv5 and 10 decrease counter rate penalty.
Divide Guard Take all damage in place of one party member this turn, with damage reduction. Does not enable Gun Mount.
Full Guard Reduces all damage done to the party this turn. 7-turn cooldown. Guard Recovery Guard Lv3

Soul Guard Reduces cut/stab/bash damage done to a row this turn. These party members may survive lethal physical damage.

TriviaEdit

Origin The term "dragoon" has historically referred to mounted infantry, soldiers who travelled on horseback but fought on foot. The name "dragoon" came from a gun of the same name, a heavy pistol used by mounted troops that traditionally had a dragon ornament around the muzzle.
