The Botanist (Japanese name Herbalist) is one of the ten currently known classes of Etrian Odyssey V. Botanists combine the healing strength of the Medic with the ailment-inducing prowess of the Hexer, using their knowledge of herbs to both heal and harm. Most notably, their smoke skills, through which they inflict ailments, also reduce the affected enemies' resistance to that ailment, allowing for a better chance when attempting the ailment again. Botanists are typically only able to wear clothing and wield staves, but can also wield bows and scythes.

Merciful HealerEdit

The Merciful Healer gets more potent healing abilities to rival that of the Medics, and receive better Wisdom and Vitality growth for better healing and survival.

  • Strengths: Unparalleled healing ability. Excellent for curing binds and ailments if any of them actually land. Revival skills save on resources spent on Nectars.
  • Weaknesses: Poor damage output, requiring weapon skills to contribute to the battle.

Graced PoisonerEdit

The Graced Poisoner have greater mastery over their Smoke skills, allowing them to further debilitate their enemies by stunning or even petrifying them, and enjoy better Luck and Intelligence growth to meet this end.

  • Strengths: Great ailment support by reducing their resistance, letting them tie into any ailment-dependent party. Can still use base healing skills in emergencies.
  • Weaknesses: Ailment accuracy for ailment skills is among the poorest in the game unless supported with stats of a Celestrian or Earthlain.
