The Steel Barb can be encountered in the Echoing Library and some of the surrounding caves. They have the skill Stone Needle which will petrify a member of your party; get enough of them in a group and they can give you a quick game over. Fortunately, they do not have much health, and so can easily be destroyed by elemental attacks.

Skills Edit

  • Stone Needle (Uses Legs): Inflicts Stab damage on one party member with a chance to petrify.

The Steel Barb is a scorpion-like monster that appears in the 6th stratum, the Claret Hollows. Although they have a low defense, they make up for it with a high attack and a resilience to everything but volt attacks. They can also use Terror Sting, which hits a party member in the front row, and pierces through to hit one in the back row as well. This move also has the chance to terrify any of the party members that are hit with it.

Conditional Drop Edit

To get the Steel Barb's conditional drop, the Severed Stinger, you must finish it off with a slash attack. As all physical attacks do very little damage, it is strongly recommended to weaken it with volt attacks.
